As a result of the GameBook pre-launch campaign with Golf Canada, The Road to the RBC Canadian Open, we have been holding the number one spot on the list of most downloaded free sports apps on the Canadian App Store. That’s a fantastic start!

The grand prize of our competition was a VIP experience to The RBC Canadian Open, that was played last week at Glen Abbey Golf Club. The prize provided by Golf Canada included a Golf Canada House twosome ticket package, a framed photograph of our winner and guest posing with the 2013 RBC Canadian Open Champion, behind the scenes tour of the RBC Canadian Open on Saturday plus a Golf Canada merchandise package.

The grand prize winner was Geoff Duckworth from Mitchell, Ontario. Geoff, who is an avid golfer and GameBook user, was unfortunately not able to use the prize himself. He had to work all week and on his day off, it was his girlfriend’s birthday. She didn’t let him attend the event as she is not a golf fan. So he kept the Golf Canada merchandise package to himself and gave his twosome ticket package to good friend Taylor LaBlanc who used it with his girlfriend Gennie Caraccioli.

Taylor, who is also a Golf GameBook user, said: “Attending the RBC Canadian Open was an awesome experience, especially as we met Brandt Snedeker and had our photo taken with him on the 18th green. GameBook certainly makes the game more fun and we will keep using it on every round we play from now on.”

If our winner Geoff Duckworth put family first by staying home for his girlfriend’s birthday, the same can be said about Hunter Mahan. On Saturday he was getting ready to tee off for another day in the RBC Canadian Open and it looked like he was going to get to celebrate the victory on Sunday. But very suddenly he got something else to celebrate instead when he found out his wife, Kandi, had gone into labor. Mahan quickly left the course and hopped on a plane to Dallas. He made it to the hospital in time to welcome his new daughter, Zoe Olivia Mahan, into the world.

The pre-launch campaign was a great success for us with GameBook receiving quality exposure via Golf Canada media channels. On behalf of the whole GameBook team, I’d like to thank Golf Canada for their support and outstanding prizes for this competition! And congratulations to Geoff, Taylor, Gennie and family Mahan!
